The annual Zihuatanejo Sail Fest, or “Regatta en el Paraiso” is fast coming upon us. This year it is slated for February 3 through 8, and though there may be fewer boats participating this year (financial constraints and uncertainties are being felt everywhere), you can be sure that there’ll be plenty of fun and sun to be had. This is all in benefit of local schools and educational facilities for kids who have scant other recourse.
This event used to be coordinated out of Rick’s Bar in downtown Zihua; Rick’s has now transformed into the Zihua Lighthouse, or El Faro de Zihuatanejo at the same location, and more information and signups for Sailfest activities and boat participation can still be obtained there or through the Sailfest website at http://www.zihuasailfest.com.
