From July 29 through August 4th, the basketball court area in downtown Zihuatanejo will be featuring a “Penitenciary Fair” (Feria Penitenciaria) in which arts and crafts and furniture put together by the inmates of the local CERESOs (Social Rehabilitation Centers) will be on display and for sale.
Almost all of the inmates participate in the elaboration of goods in the areas of carpentry, iron work, hammock weaving, painting, recycled paper purses, etc. The articles will be on sale for discounted prices during the course of the fair.
After it’s sojourn here in Zihuatanejo, the fair will move on to Chilpancingo, the state capital of Guerrero, and Acapulco.
