Restaurant Cocobie in Marina Ixtapa, together with Vinoteca Mexico out of Zihuatanejo have gotten together to host a special tasting of Mexican wines and foods in honor of Mexico’s celebration of the bicentenary of its Independence and centenary of the Mexican Revolution.

The event includes a 4-course dinner, each course accompanied by a wine from Mexican vineyards selected by Sommelier Miguel Angel Quiroz of Vinoteca Mexico, who will be on hand to guide diners and tasters through the tasting menu and answer any questions.

Just to whet your appetite, here’s the scheduled menu:

  • Orange stuffed with goat cheese and squash blossoms in a huitlacoche sauce, accompanied by a Casa Madero Chardonnay
  • Wild Mushroom soup a la Desierto de los Leones (this is one of my absolute favorites!), accompanied by Viña Kristel Sauvignon Blanc, Monte Xanic
  • Scallops of Pork in Green Mole, accompanied by a Mexican red, and
  • Mangos Flambé with vanilla ice cream, accompanied by a Chenin Blanc late harvest, Monte Xanic
