This past weekend saw the first of two surfing eliminatories for the state of Guerrero, Mexico, play out at Playa Escolleras in Ixtapa (the Marina Ixtapa jetties), organized by the Zihuatanejo municipal league under the auspices of the Guerrero state surfing association.

The second and final round of the Guerrero state eliminatories will take place in Acapulco on August 5, 6 and 7, 2011; exact location TBA. Winners of these two rounds will vie for placement in the Mexican national surfing team that is also slated to be held in September here in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.
