Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Mexico Vacation Guide

Barra de Potosi, Playa Larga and Playa Blanca

Vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts and other accommodations in Barra de Potosi, Playa Larga and Playa Blanca, Mexico.

The long stretch of beach near the Zihuatanejo International airport, which on a map appears as one continuous beach, is actually divided into, from north to south, Playa Larga, Playa Blanca and Barra de Potosi.

The open Pacific crashes along most of this stretch, and caution should be exercised here - most of the beach is not suitable for swimming and is quite dangerous. There is much more protection for swimming at the southern, Barra de Potosi end, where there is also a large lagoon where visitors can enjoy boat or kayak trips into the mangroves for birdwatching.

Most enjoyable on these beaches are the opportunities for long, solitary beach walks, horseback riding along the sands, and at certain times, watching dolphins cavort wildly in the waves.
