Troncones is one of the better-known beach communities outside of the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo area, located about one-half hours' drive north along Federal coastal highway 200. The turnoff to the beach from the highway is located at approx. Km. 30. Composed of a great variety of bed and breakfasts, inns, rental villas, bungalows and hotels, Troncones also offers several excellent dining facilities and a number of beach and land sports opportunities. Vacation rentals are found aplenty in Troncones Beach - it has evolved into a beachcomber and surfer heaven, lined with bed and breakfasts and small inns that seem to be competing with eachother for quaintness and charm. The community has grown up tremendously in the past few years and there are a number of great restaurants as well, specializing in fresh fish and seafood as well as Mexican and international specialties, interspersed along the length of this long Pacific-washed stretch of beach.
