Regional Information
All about Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Troncones and other Guerrero state destinations; our beaches, resources, maps, weather and general regional information. Resources to help orient you for your visit to this Mexican Pacific coast resort area. Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo and Troncones are located on what is known as the "Costa Grande" of the State of Guerrero, Mexico. This "great coast" encompasses the area northward from Acapulco, full on to the border of the state of Michoacan to the north. The coastline is for the most part, low-lying and flat, with a number of rivermouths, large lagoons and wetlands punctuating it's length. Zihuatanejo is situated on a magnificent, protected bay that once rivalled Acapulco for commerce from the far east and other points abroad, and that still rivals Acapulco for it's sheer natural beauty. |
