Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Mexico Vacation Guide

Ixtapa Restaurants and Bars

Restaurants and bars in Ixtapa, Guerrero. Ixtapa is located 5 kilometers north of Zihuatanejo on the Pacific coast of Mexico.

Dining in Ixtapa is always a wonderful experience.  Restaurants vary from Bogart's with it's Moroccan Kasbah atmosphere to the anything goes funky beachside attitude of Carlos and Charlie's.  The types of cuisine vary from Asian to Argentinian, Japanese to Mediterranean, and from Italian to Gourmet Traditional Mexican, but much of the cuisine is naturally centered around the typical fresh seafood so prevalent along the Pacific coastline.

The many hotels along Playa del Palmar offer some wonderful dining opportunities. There are exquisite restaurant offerings in unusual, tropical atmospheres such as Bogart's and Villa de la Selva. The waterfront restaurants of Marina Ixtapa, many of them featuring delicious Italian specialties, are the preference of many and are easily accessible. In the commercial zones along Ixtapa Boulevard, there are steak houses, pizza parlors, hamburger joints and mouth-watering Mexican tacos - something for every palate and pocketbook.

There are also a number of simple, beachfront seafood restaurants on Isla Ixtapa, or Ixtapa Island, which is a favorite day trip for visitors and locals alike. Ixtapa Island is full of things to do, explore the trails that wind up the hills and to the beaches.  Water sports abound, the Island is one of the most popular snorkeling venues in the area and also offers water skiing, banana boat rides and wave runners.

Latest Ixtapa Restaurant Review

xx Villa de la Selva, Ixtapa
Dec 24, 2007 (13:32) by Zihrena
Restaurant Villa de la Selva in Ixtapa, overlooking the Pacific ocean and stretches of Playa del Palmar, is one of the more prestigious of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo's gourmet restaurants with a history of more than 20 years in the area.

Besides it's fabulous visual setting, with perfect sunset and ocean views, the sound of the waves swishing up onto the pebbles and rocks below, and a nature show of raccoons and badgers that scour the nearby hillside for treats (the restaurant proper is separate and protected from the range of the animals), Villa de la Selva has a fabulous and inspired menu. Some of the tasty and beautifully prepared appetizers include the Mediterranean flavors of Roasted Eggplant Rolls with goat cheese and sundried tomatoes or the more Mexican Smoked Marlin Tostadas. The pastas are exquisite; the fish and other main dishes make great and unusual use of flavorful combinations of ingredients and sauces, chiles and spices.... try the savory encrusted fish fillet and beef tournedos - a real treat. Main dishes come accompanied by wonderful sides such as couscous, curried rice and smashed potatoes...

And for dessert, there's a killer Creme Brulee and an evil Chocolate, mint and blackberry concoction that is to die for...

On the pricey side, but well worth it for the quality of food and setting. A lovely place for a special occasion.
