On October 25th and 26th, 2008, the second annual Historic Revolcadero surfing event will be held for children and teens at Revolcadero Beach in Acapulco, Guerrero.
The tournament was started last year with the purpose of encouraging young people to learn and participate in surfing, bringing them into greater awareness and respect for the ocean, and just giving them a chance to be part of a fun, family-oriented outdoor event.
The event honors Evencio García Bibiano, Mexico’s first surfing champion, who learned the sport on this very beach.
The contest is open to children and teens of any nationality in 5 distinct categories covering the ages of anywhere from 5 years to 17. Activities will also include a release of baby turtles from the Hermosa Beach Turtle Camp over that same weekend.
