Playa La Saladita

La Saladita Beach

Playa La Saladita is located some 5 kilometers off highway 200 at the small town of Los Llanos, close to 40 kilometers north of Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo.

Long a surfer's secret spot, with a fabulous longboader's classic left break, La Saladita is now becoming a well-known beach haven for lovers of waves and wide-open spaces. A surfer community is slowly forming along the shoreline extending north from the surf break, with a number of private houses and villas being built along the beach and interspersed between the palms and mango trees.

Facilities at this time include several beachfront enramadas offering fresh seafood and simple Mexican dishes, surfboard rental and, for overnighters, beach camping and room or bungalow rentals. See La Saladita accommodations options.

No public transport is available for access to this surfing spot. Surfers have to have their own transport or rent vehicles out of Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. For campers, limited food and basic supplies are available from Los Llanos.

Restaurants/Enramadas:

Standard fare in all of La Saladita's eating spots are fish and seafood dishes, including red snapper, shrimp, fish tacos and often lobster; also breakfast fare such as Mexican eggs (with chopped tomato, onion and chiles), scruptious homemade tortillas, quesadillas, beans and rice.

Enramada Jacqueline: Located to the right of the main road just as you hit the beach.

Enramada Sotelos: Near the point at the southern end of the beach, accessible by turning left about 200 yards before reaching the beach. Look for the sign.

Both Enramada Paco and Enramada Ilianet are north of Jacqueline, accessible via the turnoff to the right before reaching the beach - again, watch for the signs.
