El Burro Borracho (the Drunken Burro) restaurant has existed in Troncones beach since the early days of the community. For a long time it was about the only place to get a meal other than a couple of other small beachfront enramadas that served only fresh seafood and the most basic of Mexican snacks.

Prior to 2007 the Burro Borracho Restaurant and Bungalows was located near the far southern end of Troncones Beach. It has now changed locations, moving to only a couple of doors from the Tropic of Cancer beach club, quite a bit closer to the intersection of the access road into Troncones from Highway 200 than it was before, still to the left when you reach the beach road.

Owner Vladimir and his brothers have moved the Burro Borracho sign and pretty much the whole menu to what recently was Vladi's quite successful "Huachinango's" restaurant.

The new Burro Borracho still has the same good food, burgers with fries, shrimp tacos and cocktails, abalone, fish fajitas and tacos, whole red snapper, etc., as ever. Of course, one of my favorite Burro treats has always been, and continues to be, the Iced Cappuchino... made with ice cream, coffee and Kahlua, it's a perfect cooler for a long afternoon on the beach... 

It also continues with Sunday Fiesta Mexicana nights in the high season - well worth taking in during your holiday in Troncones, with good cold beers and bar drinks and a friendly, entertaining atmosphere. Reservations are required; please call (755) 553-2834.

Although Troncones beach has evolved now into a long stretch of quality BnBs, vacation rentals, guest houses and hotels, many with their own food service or full restaurants, the Burro Borracho continues to be a focal point of Troncones life.
